Computing & ICT Overview

In Computing we strive to provide pupils with experience in a very broad spectrum of modern technology. In Key Stage 3, students are introduced to programming using Scratch, Flowol and HTML. As they progress they are also introduced to App Inventor and Python programming. We also offer students the chance to build on this experience in our 3D Printing Club and Python Programming Clubs. ICT skills including Animation; Web Authoring; Data Handling and Project Management.

Using up-to-date equipment and software we have been very successful, as 184 pupils in 2013 left The Derby High School with an OCR National First Award in ICT or better. We have built on this and from Sep 2014 pupils will be studying GCSE ICT & GCSE Computer Science.
