Modern Foreign Languages Overview

Pupils are taught French from Year 7 to Year 11. German is also taught to the two top sets in Year 9 with the option to take it at GCSE. GCSE Urdu is taught as an option in year 10 and 11.

Despite the fact that languages are not compulsory at GCSE here at the Derby High School we have an outstanding take up at GCSE. There are currently 220 pupils taking a language at GCSE over years 10 and 11.

We also offer a range of Extra Curricular activities that include Urdu club on Tuesday lunchtimes, German GCSE club on Thursdays after school and revision sessions for Year 11, which run from Christmas up to June.

This year there is a Paris trip, which will be 18th – 21st July 2014
